The Opportunity

Our client is an Australian property developer who is currently looking for a Tax and Financial Accountant to join their growing business. Respected for their excellent culture and high performing finance team, this role will report directly to the Financial Controller and work closely with the Finance Director. The business has an impressive list of live projects and an equally healthy pipeline of new work.

The Challenge

This position will be a hybrid of tax and financial accounting. Your responsibilities will focus primarily around the below, however a concerted effort will be made to expose you to a broad range of responsibilities to assist your development.

Specifically, your responsibilities will include the below: 

  • Responsibility for managing all direct and indirect tax compliance activities for the group. 
  • Assist the Finance Controller with monthly reporting including posting journals, balance sheet reconciliations and self-review
  • Acting as a key point of contact for external tax advisers
  • Reviewing financial statements prepared by internal finance teams and external advisers
  • Ensuring compliance with the group’s financial reporting standards, regulations and best practices for financial decision making
  • Assisting with the group tax strategy to ensure identification of tax risks and development of technical papers where required
  • Assist with the half year and full year group audit requirements
  • Assist with the group’s fixed asset and capex reporting for both tax and accounting
  • Other ad hoc finance projects tasks as identified

The Expertise

Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:

  • You have 3-4 years experience either working within private client’s team within a Big 4 firm or client services within a mid-tier firm
  • You are CA or CPA qualified
  • You have broad tax experience
  • A willingness and desire to operate in a fast paced, ever evolving environment
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities, and commitment to deadlines
  • Demonstrated team player and high achiever
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
