The Opportunity
Our client is a leading Australian consumer luxury goods business working within an exciting and highly popular market segment. They have an established national footprint and have continued to scale through a combination of organic growth and strategic initiatives.
Working closely within a high-performing finance function, this newly created Assistant Accountant position will have key responsibilities across AP and AR to support the accurate processing of invoices, whilst gaining exposure to month-end processes, reporting, and broader accounting duties. This position is well-suited to someone looking to build on their foundational experience in a collaborative and professional environment.
The Challenge
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, your key responsibilities will include:
- Taking responsibility of the payable and receivables function to ensure accurate processing and reconciling of invoices
- Managing supplier queries and maintaining strong relationships
- Performing supplier statement reconciliations
- Assisting with weekly payment runs
- Maintaining and updating the vendor database
- Preparing aged payables reporting and assisting with ad hoc analysis
- Reconciling company credit cards and processing related entries
- Maintaining the fixed asset register
- Supporting general ledger maintenance and reconciliations
- Assisting with month-end close including journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting internal and external audit processes
- Assisting with BAS preparation
- Providing general administrative support to the finance team
The Expertise
To be considered for this role, you will bring:
- 1-3+ years experience in an AP/AR or Assistant Accountant role
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- You will ideally be working towards you CPA or CA qualification, or are looking to start your studies in the short term
