The Opportunity

Our client is a global, multi-billion-dollar business with a significant presence across Australia and New Zealand. Operating an extensive portfolio of products and a large, multi-site network, the business is a recognised market leader with excellent opportunities for career development.

An opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Analyst to join its high-performing finance team. Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager, you will work closely with stakeholders across sales, operations and finance to analyse business performance, deliver commercial insights and support key decision-making.

This role would suit a Big 4 or Mid-tier first mover looking to transition into commercial finance, or an industry-trained Accountant seeking to broaden their experience in a more analytical and commercial facing role.

The Challenge

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Analysing sales, margins and operating costs to identify trends and opportunities to improve performance
• Preparing management reporting, P&L analysis, variance commentary and commercial KPIs
• Managing customer rebate calculations, reporting and reconciliations
• Working closely with sales and operational stakeholders to support commercial initiatives and business decisions
• Preparing financial models and business cases to assess opportunities and investments
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, month-end reporting and process improvements

The Expertise

To be successful, you will ideally bring:

• 2+ years’ accounting experience gained within Big 4/Mid-tier professional services or an industry finance team
• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Commerce, with CA/CPA completed or underway
• A strong accounting foundation, with exposure to large, complex or products-based businesses highly regarded
• Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capability
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with finance and non-finance stakeholders
• A proactive, commercially curious mindset and an interest in developing business partnering capabilities
