The Opportunity

A growing, private equity backed infrastructure and supply chain business is seeking a Commercial Analyst to join its high-performing finance team. Operating across Australia and New Zealand, the business plays a critical role in supporting large-scale supply chains for leading supermarkets, through an asset-intensive, service-led model.

Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager with a dotted line to the CFO, this role will play a key part in supporting corporate finance activity, strategic planning and investment decision-making. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across finance, operations and commercial teams to deliver high-quality financial modelling, analysis and insights that directly influence business strategy.

This is a highly commercial role suited to someone looking to move beyond traditional reporting into a more forward-looking, strategy and planning focused position.

The Challenge

As Commercial Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

• Leading financial modelling and analysis to support capital allocation, investment decisions and strategic growth initiatives
• Building and owning detailed business case models, including forecasting profitability, capital requirements and returns on investment (IRR, NPV, payback)
• Supporting corporate finance activity through the development of investment proposals, including robust assumptions, scenario analysis and sensitivity modelling
• Partnering with senior stakeholders to support long-term planning, commercial strategy and new market or customer opportunities
• Delivering data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making, including identifying risks, opportunities and key value drivers
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and planning processes, with a focus on improving forward-looking visibility across the business
• Driving improvements in financial modelling frameworks, data utilisation and commercial assessment processes

The Expertise

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following:

• 3–6 years’ experience within FP&A, corporate finance, transaction services or investment analysis
• Strong financial modelling capability, with experience building complex models and business cases
• Exposure to investment appraisal techniques such as IRR, NPV and scenario analysis
• Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to translate financial analysis into strategic insights
• Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic or private equity backed environments (highly regarded)
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP/reporting systems
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across finance and operations
• A proactive mindset, with the ability to challenge assumptions and contribute to strategic discussions
• High attention to detail and strong commercial judgement
• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or Commerce. Additional qualification such as CA, CPA or CFA desirable
