The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for an accomplished financial controller to join a privately owned success story that is the clear Australian leader in their field. Growing organically and via acquisition they have a reputation for product and service excellence and being at the forefront of their industry.
The Challenge
Leading the group’s corporate accounting function, you will be instrumental in overseeing the delivery of the financial results. You will have a broad range of responsibilities including:
- The production of timely and accurate monthly financial statements and management reports
- Oversight of the monthly consolidation process and month end close, including ensuring the integrity of the group financial results
- Responsibility for the delivery and accuracy of the statutory reporting requirements and audit process
- Oversee preparation of local and international income tax filings and indirect tax returns with support from local and external accountants
- Maintain internal controls and ensure the integrity of the general ledger and all transactions
- Providing support and guidance to the group on all technical accounting matters
- Supporting the FP&A team with the coordination of the annual budget and reforecasting
- Supporting the executive team to improve the ongoing performance of the business and deliver various strategic projects and initiatives
- Acting as a change agent for finance including leading and delivering various process improvement initiatives
- Managing and leading a small accounting team
The Expertise
To be considered for this opportunity it is likely you will possess the following:
- CA qualified, ideally you commenced your career in audit at EY, KPMG, Deloitte or PwC or a leading tier 2 CA firm
- Superior technical accounting, statutory reporting and corporate tax experience
- Distinguished financial accounting and management reporting experience
- Experience in the development and maintenance of internal controls and financial policies
- Proven financial controller experience in a similar environment
- Process improvement and change management experience to support uplifting the finance team’s capability
- Proven experience to create efficiencies in financial information flow and challenge existing thinking
- Experience in the development and maintenance of finance systems
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to collaborate with and influence internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter who is passionate with high achievement drive
