The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing, private equity backed industrial services business operating across Australia and New Zealand. With a long-standing history and strong market position, the business is now entering a new phase of growth, driven by acquisitions and a clear strategy to scale and corporatise its operations.
Reporting to the CFO, the Group Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial integrity of the organisation, delivering timely and accurate reporting, and driving improvements across finance processes and systems. Working closely with both finance and operational stakeholders, this role will suit someone looking to step into a broad, hands-on position within a fast-paced and evolving environment.
The Challenge
As Group Accountant, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the month-end close process including journals, reconciliations and variance analysis
- Preparing monthly financial statements and supporting board reporting requirements
- Managing intercompany reconciliations and fixed asset registers, including capex tracking
- Leading the external audit process and preparing technical accounting papers
- Supporting statutory reporting in line with IFRS/AASB requirements
- Overseeing technical accounting areas such as leases (AASB16), revenue recognition, and provisions
- Driving process & ERP improvements including automation initiatives, system enhancements and improving reporting accuracy
- Partnering with operational stakeholders and regional teams to support financial outcomes
The Expertise
The successful candidate will be:
- CA/CPA qualified
- 4+ years’ experience in accounting, with at least some of this in Audit within a Big 4 or Mid-Tier environment
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and month-end processes.
- Advanced in Excel with strong analytical capability
- Able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A strong communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders across finance and operations
- Detail-oriented with a focus on controls, governance, and continuous improvement
