The Opportunity

Exciting opportunity to join an entrepreneurial Melbourne based business. Offering a suite of technology-led, B2B financial services and back-office solutions, they have invested heavily in tech and are in a growth phase.

The business is well run, and the executive team has a proven history of success. The role is ideal for a hands-on Head of Finance with a good technical foundation, and experience in a small to medium sized business. What also sets this business apart is the people. You will work with a smart, inclusive team with a collaborative culture. 

The Challenge

This is a broad, hands-on leadership role spanning financial reporting, commercial finance, treasury, financial control and business performance. You’ll lead a small finance team while providing the insight and financial discipline required to support an entrepreneurial business through its next stage of growth. Reporting to the Founder, some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading monthly management reporting, Board reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling
• Providing commercial insight across revenue, profitability, costs, working capital and business performance
• Managing cash flow, liquidity, banking relationships, debt facilities and covenant reporting
• Maintaining a strong financial control environment across month-end, balance sheet, audit, risk and compliance
• Partnering with leaders across Sales, Operations, Product, Technology and Risk on commercial decision-making
• Supporting pricing, new products, investment decisions, business cases and international expansion
• Driving improvements across finance systems, reporting, dashboards, automation and BI
• Leading and developing the finance team (2 direct reports)

The Expertise

Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:

• CA/CPA qualification with 8+ years’ experience across finance and accounting
  • Previous experience operating at Finance Manager, Controller or Head of Finance level
  • Strong commercial acumen combined with excellent financial reporting and technical accounting capability
  • Strong cash flow, working capital and treasury management capability
  • The confidence to partner directly with a CEO, Board and senior leadership team
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to operate across both strategic and operational finance
  • Experience within financial services, FinTech, non-bank lending, payments, SaaS or similar will be highly regarded
