A leading professional services firm is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its established finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this is a hands-on role with genuine ownership of key financial outcomes – spanning management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, tax compliance, trust account management and audit coordination.

You will take a lead role in preparing monthly financial results and annual budgets, manage key compliance obligations, and oversee trust and controlled money account (CMA) accounting to ensure transactions and reporting requirements are met accurately and on time. Beyond the core technical function, you will coach and develop members of the finance team, build strong relationships with partners and senior stakeholders, and contribute to firm-wide process improvement and technology initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a CA or CPA qualified accountant with professional services experience who is ready to step into a role that combines technical ownership with genuine leadership responsibility.

The Challenge

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the preparation of monthly financial results, budgets and forecasts, with insightful analysis to support decision making
• Managing key financial accounting and compliance obligations, including annual reporting, audit coordination, BAS and FBT
• Overseeing trust and CMA accounting, ensuring transactions and compliance requirements are completed accurately and on time
• Supporting working capital management, including WIP, debtors, partner capital and cash flow targets
• Coaching and developing members of the finance team, while building strong relationships with partners and stakeholders
• Driving process improvement, innovation and technology initiatives across the finance function

The Expertise

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• CA or CPA qualification
• 3+ years’ experience in a similar role within a professional services environment
• Strong technical accounting capability across financial and management accounting, tax compliance and reporting
• Comfort operating at both a strategic and hands-on level
• Sound commercial judgement and exceptional attention to detail
• Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders, including partners and external auditors
