The Opportunity
Our client is a well established education institution with a strong reputation across the Sydney market. They are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead core finance operations and support a period of systems and process improvement.

This is a broad leadership role overseeing financial control, reporting, compliance and systems, payroll, and tax, while managing a small team in a hands on environment.

The Challenge
Reporting into the CFO, your responsibilities will include:

• Oversee day to day accounting operations, ensuring accurate bookkeeping and a clean trial balance
• Lead month end and year end close, including full balance sheet reconciliations and preparation of management accounts
• Ensure statutory reporting is compliant with Australian Accounting
• Standards and regulatory requirements
• Provide oversight of payroll compliance, including PAYG, superannuation and payroll tax obligations
• Manage fee collection processes, including invoicing and tracking outstanding balances
• Lead the external audit process and maintain a strong internal control environment
• Oversee grant funding, ensuring accurate allocation and timely acquittal reporting
• Partner with FP&A to monitor budgets and investigate key variances
• Drive ERP system optimisation, including data migration and process improvements
• Act as the key point of contact for financial systems and reporting tools such as Power BI
• Lead, mentor and develop a small finance and payroll team

The Expertise
To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• CA, CPA or ACA qualification
• Proven experience in a Finance Manager or Senior Accountant role within a complex environment
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with statutory reporting requirements
• Hands on leadership style with the ability to manage both team and operational delivery
• Confident communication skills, with the ability to present financial insights to non finance stakeholder
