The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Billing Officer to join the finance function of a globally recognised law firm. This role sits within a newly established national billing team that was created late last year as part of a significant transformation project within the business.
With a strong focus on stakeholder engagement, billing quality and revenue support, this position will see you working closely with Fee Earners and Partners across the firm to manage the end-to-end billing process. The role sits within a broader finance function of approximately 40 staff nationally, with the billing team itself consisting of 15 people across Australia.

The Challenge
Reporting to the Billing Team Leader / Senior Billing Manager, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Managing end-to-end billing activities across a portfolio of Partners and Fee Earners
- Preparing draft invoices, billing calculations, write-offs and amendments for approval
- Managing WIP reviews, billing reconciliations and client billing queries
- Coordinating credit notes, e-billing matters and multi-payer invoices
- Supporting billing accuracy and compliance with internal policies and client protocols
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across legal and finance teams
- Producing ad-hoc billing reports and assisting with lock-up and WIP analysis
- Supporting workflow management and collaboration across the broader billing team
- Assisting with process improvement initiatives and operational support activities
The Expertise
Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:
- Previous billing experience within a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong understanding of WIP management and billing processes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience using finance systems such as SAP will be highly regarded but not essential
- Intermediate Excel skills and strong systems confidence
