The Opportunity
The business is an established brand in Australia who have been on a unique journey for growth. After re-positioning itself more than a decade ago in the local market, the business has steadily implemented careful expansion strategy nationwide. Due to the business’s ambitious growth plans, the executive team are looking for a vibrant Commercial Manager to drive greater insights through the effective usage of data and lead key decision-making for all key departments of the organisation, with a particular focus on the Merchandise/ Sales and Marketing areas.
This is an excellent 2IC opportunity to join an iconic brand that is employee focused with a highly supportive and progressive culture. While working with an impressive leadership team, you will play an integral role in all key commercial decision-making for the business and drive greater insights as well as improve access to stronger data analytics and dashboard reporting.
The Challenge
2IC to the CFO this position will drive profitable growth by acting as a trusted partner to Merchandise and Sales teams, embedding finance into day-to-day trading decisions, and ensuring commercial strategies are financially optimised.
The Commercial Finance Manager’s responsibilities can be broadly split into the following areas:
Commercial Business Partnering:
- Trusted business partner across Marketing, Sales, Merchandise and Operations by supporting pricing, promotions and margin optimisation
- ROI analysis on promotional activity
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses on programs aimed at improving the performance across multiple sites
- Supporting senior management with in-depth analysis and understanding of business drivers including customer analysis and cost reviews
- Leverage data to identify trends, risks and opportunities
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Management of the end-to-end budgeting and forecasting process for business segments, involving partnering with cross functional finance and non-finance executives
Compliance and Continuous Improvement:
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities for process improvement and identifying new business opportunities
The Expertise
Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:
- You are an excellent CA/CPA qualified finance executive who commenced your career in Big 4 external audit or business services and have progressed onto working in a fast growing Retail/ FMCG and/or hospitality sectors in key commercial business partnering roles
- You have extensive commercial business partnering experience with operations teams, merchandise, sales and/or marketing with demonstrated outcomes
- Your personality is energetic, strong and you enjoy driving initiatives in a high performing culture
- An ability to work and adapt in a fast paced dynamic environment
- Experience implementing a planning tool such as TM1 will be looked upon favourably
