The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Operations Manager to join a large, long-established Australian business operating across multiple divisions nationally. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the finance operations function, working closely with senior finance leaders to uplift process, performance and service delivery across the organisation.
This role offers the chance to lead a sizeable team within a collaborative, values-driven environment, while driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency and technology-enabled enhancements. With significant exposure to senior stakeholders, this position provides genuine scope to influence outcomes, shape team culture, and support broader business growth initiatives.
The Challenge
This role requires a seasoned accounting or shared services leader who is confident managing large teams within a complex, multi-site environment. Reporting to the CFO, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions to ensure KPIs and team outcomes are achieved.
- Proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement, assessing risks, implementing corrective actions and ensuring alignment with broader business requirements.
- Leading a culture of innovation, service excellence, performance and safety, including leveraging technology and automation to enhance efficiency.
- Coaching, mentoring and developing a geographically distributed team, ensuring capability uplift and effective performance management.
- Providing senior accounting support and leadership to all areas within the shared services function.
- Partnering closely with IT and finance leadership to ensure systems are well-maintained, scalable and fit-for-purpose.
- Supporting broader business initiatives as required, such as ESG committee involvement, PPE management and office operations.
The Expertise
This position will suit a Shared Services Manager, Finance Manager or senior accounting leader with strong people-management capability and a track record of driving operational uplift. You should express interest in this position if you bring:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing large teams within AP/AR/shared services environments.
- Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring and growing staff across multiple sites or functions.
- Proven success delivering process improvements, implementing new systems or optimising workflows.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence outcomes across senior management and external partners.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking capability, with the ability to meet deadlines across competing priorities.
- CPA/CA qualification is advantageous but not essential.
