The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of financial control, accounting and regulatory reporting for a successful multinational financial services organisation.

The Challenge
Reporting to the Regional Head of Finance, your key responsibilities will include the following:

• Lead the ANZ Financial Control function, overseeing day-to-day financial management, financial reporting systems, processes and controls across the Australian regulated entities.
• Drive continual improvement and process optimisation, working closely with offshore Shared Services teams and ensuring appropriate oversight of transactional accounting activities.
• Oversee statutory financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements and management of external audit and assurance processes.
• Own client money and asset controls, including daily segregation calculations, regulatory capital monitoring and review and sign-off of regulatory returns.
• Maintain and enhance financial control frameworks to ensure compliance with ASIC and other applicable regulatory requirements, escalating emerging issues where appropriate.
• Lead local tax compliance and filings, partnering with Group Tax and external advisers.
• Partner with key stakeholders on new product launches, ensuring financial control, client money and regulatory reporting requirements are appropriately addressed.
• Act as the local finance representative for Group finance systems and ERP, ensuring Australian requirements are understood and local issues are appropriately escalated.
• Contribute to APAC-wide standardisation, automation and transformation initiatives, helping align Australian practices with the broader regional operating model.
• Present financial and control matters to senior leadership and Executive Board-level stakeholders, providing clear insights and recommendations.

The Expertise Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:

• CA/CPA qualification, with 10+ years’ post-qualification experience; a combination of Big 4 and industry experience would be highly regarded.
• Financial services or regulated industry experience, with an understanding of the complexities of operating within a highly regulated environment.
• Strong technical accounting capability, including working knowledge of IFRS, statutory reporting and external audit management.
• Experience across financial control, regulatory reporting, client money/assets or regulatory capital would be highly advantageous.
• A continuous improvement mindset, with the curiosity and confidence to challenge existing processes and identify better ways of working.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across local and international teams.
• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders and communicate effectively across a geographically diverse organisation.
