The Opportunity
This is a brilliant opportunity to join an industry leading and very successful sustainability consultancy. The firm partners with most of the top ASX 100 and many other global companies on delivering a sustainability approach that supports corporate strategy, navigates change, and contributes to a flourishing society and planet.
The firm has grown rapidly over the last 3 years and has a significant appetite to continue growing quickly both domestically and internationally. Excitingly, the firm has created a GM Finance role which will allow the right finance executive to work hand-in-hand with the founders and leaders of the business and take the business through what is expected to be a period of continued and sustained growth. It is likely the firm will take on strategic investors to help accelerate this growth.
The Challenge
This is a newly created role that will be responsible for the financial management of the Australian business and provide financial advisory support to the US business. Reporting into the firms CEO and COO, your responsibilities will include:
- Commercial finance leadership through managing the accounting function & finance operations to deliver accurate, detailed and meaningful reporting of financial results and value-add data
- Being primarily responsible for managing whole-of-team resources, including initially allocating team members to each project and tracking individual and project utilisation rates
- Business partnering with the team in all financial, data and commercial aspects by capturing, substantiating, and analysing operational data for decision making
- Financial and commercial support to company leaders in the development of plans that support organisational strategy, including analysing data to help make hiring decisions, and providing data-driven inputs into pay rises and promotion discussions
- Being responsible for overseeing preparation and lodgement of quarterly and monthly BAS/IAS and FBT and payroll tax requirements
- Liaising with external accountants for tax compliance work
- Management and financial accounting for all entities within the group
- Manage a small finance team
The Expertise
It is a given that you will be an experienced finance professional with a proven background in accounting. You will be excited by the opportunity to take on a newly created finance role in a professional and corporate culture setting where you will have the ability to work hand-in-hand with the founders.
- It is likely that you are CA/CPA qualified, began your career in a leading chartered firm and have since progressed your career in a high-growth business, ideally working in the internal finance function of a professional services firm.
- Our client is open to considering Senior Manager/Director level CA’s from KPMG, Deloitte, EY, PwC or any of the leading mid-tier accounting firms – you will need to have worked within the business services/CFO advisory/outsourced accounting functions.
- Ideally, you have a combination of large and small high-growth company experience demonstrating your ability to be both strategic as well as hands on and in the detail.
- Passion and interest in sustainability will be looked upon favourably.
- Importantly, you will be a strong communicator with an eagerness to roll your sleeves up, learn and develop. Our client is open to a range of backgrounds as long as the individual can highlight a growth mindset.
