The Opportunity
Our client is a renowned and highly regarded property group, boasting a substantial portfolio of ongoing projects and equally with a strong pipeline of work. An exciting opportunity to join the business as a Management Accountant has come up. Essentially, this role acts as a Finance Business Partner to one of the organisation’s largest development projects. It sits within a well-established finance team with a strong focus on learning, development and capability building. The role goes beyond traditional reporting, with significant exposure to commercial finance and the opportunity to work closely with non-financial stakeholders, helping translate financial information into clear, actionable insights for project and operational decision-makers.
The Challenge
As part of this role you will be required to provide accurate and insightful financial reporting and analysis which will enable the business to make strategic operational decisions. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly management reports for projects
- Prepare budget and 5-year forecasting of cash flow, profit and balance sheet for the business unit
- Prepare whole of life project cash close, project returns, project variance reports and cost to the complete reports
- Monthly cash flow reporting
- Variance analysis against budget
- Review and/or prepare WIP reconciliation and recharge of costs
- Ad hoc project work and process improvement – system implementation, business partnering
The Expertise
Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:
- 4–6 years’ experience in commercial accounting or finance roles
- Exposure to property, land development, construction or project-based environments highly regarded
- Experience in project accounting, WIP tracking or job costing advantageous
- CPA or CA qualified, or close to completion
- Strong technical grounding across month-end, reporting and management accounting
- High initiative with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- Strong communicator with the ability to engage and influence non-financial stakeholders
- Able to translate financial data into clear commercial insights that drive decisions
