The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious CA/CPA-qualified individual looking to broaden their skills and gain exposure in a Financial Accountant role with a focus on payroll accounting. Based at the group level, you’ll join a large complex ASX-listed organisation in the heart of the CBD.
The company is known for having a strong collaborative team culture and are looking for someone to help drive the performance of the finance team. This is an opportunity for someone wanting to make a step into a large well known business, drive accurately and timely completion of month-end tasks, as well as support the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks, payroll analysis and the audit process. Additionally, the wider finance function has exciting upcoming process and system improvements underway, so you will get exposure to ongoing learning opportunities.
The Challenge
Reporting to the Payroll Accounting Lead, your key responsibilities will include:
- Prepare and post any payroll related transactions into the ledger including payruns, accruals and provisions etc.
- Prepare all payroll related balance sheet reconciliations.
- Investigate, understand and correct risks and issues that appear in the balance sheet.
- Assist the finance team with period end close activity.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and support their delivery.
- Prepare and maintain process or policy documentation.
- Complete ad hoc financial analysis of payroll data.
- Support the wider finance team with any other duties as necessary.
The Expertise
Please apply for the position if you have the following:
- You are CA/CPA qualified, or are working towards
- At least 2 years’ experience, ideally working in a large and complex business
- Payroll accounting experience desirable
- Attention to detail and ability to focus on quality work
- Curious attitude and commitment to learning
- Process improvement mindset, and willingness to support the wider finance function in system upgrades.
- Exposure to SAP would be highly regarded
