The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Financial Accountant to join a well-established, private equity owned business operating within a critical infrastructure and logistics environment.
  
This role sits within a close-knit finance team and plays a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting compliance. It is well suited to an experienced Financial Accountant with a strong technical background, who enjoys process improvement and working closely with varied stakeholders.
  
Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, you will be a trusted technical accountant, supporting month end, statutory reporting, audit and tax obligations, while partnering with internal stakeholders to continuously improve processes and reporting.
  
The Challenge

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing accurate monthly financial reports across branch-based operations
• Owning general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations with a high level of autonomy
• Supporting month end close, variance analysis and financial integrity
• Assisting with statutory compliance including BAS, FBT, payroll tax and audit support
• Contributing to budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with FP&A
• Supporting fixed asset accounting and maintaining robust controls
• Driving improvements in systems, processes, policies and documentation
• Mentoring junior team members and collaborating across the business

The Expertise

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Degree qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• CA or CPA qualification
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial accounting or similar roles
• Strong understanding of financial reporting and taxation requirements
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems
• High attention to detail, accuracy and accountability
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with non-finance stakeholders
• Experience within logistics, transport, supply chain or distribution environments will be viewed favourably, but is not essential
• Permanent Residency or Citizenship is required for this role
