The Opportunity
This is a very exciting opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant with a continuous improvement mindset to join the team of this exciting and innovative, high growth e-commerce start-up. The business has grown from strength to strength over the past decade and is looking for a high potential senior accountant who has the right attitude to build on the capabilities of the finance team and become the Finance Manager in the short term.
You will be a direct report to the CFO who is a highly regarded senior finance executive in Melbourne. You will also work with a collegiate team to steer the finance function to become true business partners to the business. An exciting element of this role will be the opportunity to directly advise on the strategic direction of the business from a growth perspective in the medium to long term.
You will be given a lot of autonomy and responsibility with a clear mandate to exercise your initiative and drive change within the finance function.
The Challenge
The Senior Financial Accountant will support group finance operations across Australian and South East Asian entities within a multi-entity, multi-currency environment. Duties specifically include:
- Responsibility over month-end and year-end close processes, including management reporting, statutory financial reporting and group consolidations
- Partnering with the CFO to lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting by working closely with departmental leaders to develop bottom-up budgets
- Preparing monthly reporting packs for the board and individual departments
- Managing indirect tax compliance processes including BAS, GST, WET and FBT obligations
- Overseeing inventory accounting and reconciliations across entities to ensure accurate COGS and inventory valuation
- Driving process improvements across existing systems, including the implementation of AI-assisted data capture solutions and enhancements to internal controls
