The Opportunity

A growing, multi-site organisation is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to join its Head Office team based in South Yarra. Supporting a workforce of 1,400+ employees across a national footprint, this is a critical role within a well-established payroll function.

Reporting to the Payroll Team Leader, you will take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing while ensuring accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement across a high-volume environment.

This opportunity is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys working in fast-paced, operationally focused businesses and partnering with stakeholders across multiple sites.

The Challenge

As Senior Payroll Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • End-to-end payroll processing across fortnightly and monthly cycles for 1,400+ employees
  • Reviewing timesheets, leave applications and payroll adjustments
  • Managing WorkCover claims, including monitoring, reconciliation and compliance
  • Conducting reconciliations including superannuation, WorkCover, parental leave and STP reporting
  • Generating reporting for operational leaders across multiple centres
  • Supporting month-end processes and payroll reporting
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring compliance with Fair Work legislation

The Expertise

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in end-to-end payroll, ideally within a high-volume (1,000+ employees) environment
  • Experience with Employment Hero or similar payroll systems
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance, including WorkCover and STP
  • Excellent reconciliation skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the business
  • Accounting exposure is beneficial but not essential
