The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated accounting professional to join a growing Family Office in a pivotal financial role. This is an ideal role for someone looking to make their first move from professional services, particularly from a business services, tax advisory or private clients division, and apply their expertise in a highly dynamic, hands-on environment. The Family Office oversees a sophisticated and diverse portfolio of assets across property, operating businesses, and listed and private investments. You’ll work closely with entrepreneurial, highly respected stakeholders who value trusted financial insight and strategic thinking. In this role, you’ll take ownership of financial and tax operations, while leading and mentoring two experienced bookkeepers. You’ll be responsible for driving improvements in reporting, managing compliance across multiple entities and structures.
The Challenge
Reporting to the Director your key responsibilities will include the following:
- Reconcile and manage financial accounts for all entities within the group on a monthly basis.
- Manage inter-entity transactions, Division 7A loans, and Unpaid Trust Entitlements.
- Prepare and ensure accuracy in financial statements for effective management reporting and reconciliations.
- Oversee BAS, payroll tax, and other statutory lodgements.
- Work with internal teams to maintain accurate general ledger data, supporting both management and statutory reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with the Director on monthly reporting and financial reconciliation tasks.
- Manage group structure diagrams and assist with treasury management, including foreign currency and group cash flow management.
The Expertise
Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:
- CA qualified with at least 8 years’s experience, ideally in a manager or senior manager capacity within a Big 4 or Mid-tier accounting firm.
- Experience working within HNW family groups, including Division 7A loans, offshore investments, and tax consolidation.
- Strong knowledge of legal structures, tax implications, and the ability to prepare detailed income tax calculations and reconciliations.
- Proven experience in managing complex financial structures and presenting financial data to senior stakeholders and Boards of Directors.
- Proficiency in Excel and Xero, with a keen interest in Power BI or other management reporting platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to drive financial discussions and present complex information clearly to both internal and external parties.
