The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated junior accounts candidate to join an exceptional and leading firm based in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. This role will support the wider accounting function and play a key role in supporting the Finance Manager and broader team.
This is a broad role focusing on accounts support within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Ideally, you’ll have an improvements mindset, display significant initiative, and have great prioritization and time management skills. Best suited to a Accounting/Finance Graduate with some accounts experience, you may have aspirations to complete your CA/CPA which the firm can support with.
The Challenge
Reporting into the Finance manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Processing daily transactions across the firm’s multiple Trust and general operating bank accounts
- Inputting invoices and processing disbursement payments in line with firm policies
- Reconciling vendor statements and responding to supplier and stakeholder queries in a timely manner
- Managing accounts receivable functions, including receipting payments and allocating funds to client matters
- Processing transactions for investment accounts, including opening term deposits, recording movements, and tracking maturity dates
- Assisting with bank reconciliations across trust and office accounts
- Supporting month-end processes including journal entries and reconciliations
- Providing assistance to Partners, Lawyers, and PAs regarding account queries and financial processes
- Ensuring compliance with relevant trust accounting regulations, including basic monitoring and reporting (with support from senior finance staff)
The Expertise
Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:
- A relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable
- 6-month – 2 years’ relevant accounts/finance experience
- Solid interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills
