Business Analyst | Tech | $90,000 – $95,000 package

The Opportunity
Our client is a startup scale up tech company headquartered in Melbourne with operations across the UK, EU, LATAM, USA, and Australia. Their payments platform enables customers to make micropayments and has a hand in provision of services that impacts millions of people.
As a Business Analyst you will play a pivotal role in supporting the overall business across Financial insights & reporting, data transformation projects, and process improvements covering controls, systems and reporting.
  
The Challenge
Reporting to the Head of Finance, key responsibilities will include:

  • Business Process Analysis
    • o Identify and analyze current business processes and procedures and associated impacts on financial streams such as revenue, budgeting, and financial & management reporting .
    • o Evaluate inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance overall performance and streamline operations.
    • o Provide insights that drive operational improvements and inform decision-making.
  • Data Analysis & Interpretation:
    • o Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support decision-making and identify trends and improve reporting accuracy.
    • o Use data analysis tools and techniques, including SQL and Excel, to extract meaningful insights from large datasets.
    • o Support commercial financial decisions, management and board reporting, and address operational issues through data-driven insights.
    • o Create visual representations of data to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to finance and business stakeholders.
  • Solution Design:
    • o Collaborate with finance and IT teams to define and document functional requirements.
    • o Ensure that solutions align with business objectives and technical feasibility, while minimizing disruption to existing processes.
    • o Identify and assess the potential impacts of changes on financial workflows and related systems.
  • Project Management Support:
    • o Assist in project planning, scheduling, and tracking projects related to financial systems, such as ERP implementations or upgrades.
    • o Monitor project progress and identify potential risks and issues, and communicate them to the Head of Finance.
    • o Provide support for project deliverables and milestones.
    • o Support the finance team through the transition during system upgrades and process changes.
  • Process Improvement & Automation:
    • o Analyze and identify opportunities for automation within finance-related processes, such as accounts payable/receivable, financial closing, and reporting.
    • o Implement ICT solutions to streamline workflows and reduce manual interventions, improving efficiency and accuracy.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • o Prepare clear and detailed documentation of processes, findings, and methodologies.
    • o Generate monthly reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • o Effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels, including executives, managers, engineers, and customers.
    • o Manage stakeholder expectations and address concerns.
    • o Foster strong relationships and build consensus among finance, IT and business stakeholders.

The Expertise
Please apply to the position if you meet the following required skills and qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  •  Experience working with and implementing various finance-related systems (e.g., Phocas, Xero, NetSuite)
  •  Knowledge of key accounting processes, including accounts payable/ receivable, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  •  Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Excel) for data manipulation and reporting.
  •  Proficient in using data analytics and visualization tools, including Amazon Athena and QuickSight, to derive insights and support decision making.
  •  Knowledge of business process modeling and documentation techniques.
  •  6+ months experience working in the payments industry.
  •  Experience working in an agile development environment.
  •  Understanding of payment systems and industry trends.
  •  Desired Skills also include: Payments industry experience, financial modeling knowledge & ERP systems experience
