The Opportunity

Our client is one of Australia’s market leaders in their chosen field. Consistently growing via acquisition, they are quickly becoming one of Australia’s highly sought after employers. 

During a time of significant growth this position is responsible for leading the Tax function for the Group.

The Challenge

Based on the Sunshine Coast, this role supports the Group CFO and is responsible for managing & delivering the tax compliance functions of the Australian businesses.

Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • End to end delivery of tax compliance functions including corporate tax returns, indirect tax lodgments, FBT returns, payroll tax returns and tax effect accounting reporting.
  • As the primary tax advisor of the business, ability to provide insights on tax implications of business transactions and strategies as well as supporting growth initiatives such as M&A activities
  • Collaborating with external advisors to address complex tax issues
  • Define and implement the necessary processes to modernize & improve efficiency of the tax reporting & compliance functions such as group tax reporting, tax compliance, tax audit (internal & external) & transfer pricing related transactions
  • Ensure the ongoing operational effectiveness of the Australian business tax governance and risk management framework
  • Lead & maintain effective relationships with external tax advisors
  • Lead the delivery of the Group’s tax reporting and associated disclosures in the Group’s financial statements, including compliance with all relevant accounting standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Preparation of Tax effect accounting entries, month end, quarter and year end accounting, as well as ,maintaining the relevant balance sheet reconciliations
  • Provide and encourage knowledge and skills sharing across the Finance team and wider business
  • Support tax related M&A due diligence, integration and accounting activities as required.

Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:

  • Ideally, you are a chartered accountant and started your career with PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, EY or a leading mid-tier firm. You have since been working in a group role of a large corporate, preferably ASX listed or a listed MNE
  • Proven ability to operate in a standalone tax role without direct reports or immediate technical oversight;
  • Proven experience in managing ATO large business tax governance reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of international tax compliance issues including transfer pricing, CbC reporting and Pillar 2 reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience advising on indirect tax law (GST)
  • Proven ability to work closely with external advisors and cross-functional teams
