The Opportunity

Our client is a renowned Australian diversified manufacturer who delivers premium products and service to the North-Western suburbs of Melbourne. They pride themselves on having an excellent internal culture and have a continual focus on employee development and progression.

An opportunity has arisen for a hands-on Payroll Manager to take on the entire payroll function which takes accountability for processing a large weekly payroll. This role will suit an experienced payroll professional seeking a payroll leadership role where you can own the function.

The Challenge

Reporting to the CFO and communicating with a wide range of management and staff on a daily basis, your key responsibilities include the following:

• Managing a weekly payroll for approximately 500+ employees
• Processing starters, leavers and adjustments
• Calculating and maintaining leave balances
• Completing legislative requirements including PAYG, Superannuation and WorkCover
• Interpreting and applying awards and contracts
• Preparing detailed payroll records, reports and documents for Finance and Operations
• Completing month-end processes
• Responding to payroll related inquiries in a timely manner
• Supporting management with process improvement initiatives
• Team management – support, training and development

The Expertise

Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:

• 10+ years of payroll experience processing for more than 500-1,000 staff
• Have previous experience managing/leading a small team
• Experience in a similar role in a manufacturing or construction organisation is highly advantageous. 
• Excellent communication skills at all levels in the business
